Northern Inc. is a fishing club that targets Northern Pike in the Brainerd lakes area. We were established in 1975 and practice Catch & Release at all of our tournaments. We fish for fun and though the family changes all the time, every year this group acts like a fishing family that enjoys the time together on the water. Through practice and patience, some of the best pike fisherman in the world have passed through this club.

The club was founded in 1975 by Ron Niemann, the owner of Ron’s Squaw Point on Gull Lake. Some of the famous fishermen that fished in the club were Al Linder of In-Fisherman and Marv Koep founder of the Nisswa Guides league. The first Northern Pike International tournament drew more than 500 participants.
After incorporation, 3 Chapters were formed. They were: Brainerd, St Cloud, & the Metro (Cities) chapters. They would all fish lakes in their own areas and once a year all 3 chapters would get together to fish what was called the “Classic” tournament. Ron was president for 21 years through 1996. Rob Carper was elected as his predecessor in 1997. Somewhere along the way the Metro and St Cloud chapters disbanded. Those chapter members that were still interested were contacted and joined with the Brainerd folks to save the club. By the turn of the Century (2000), the club had more than 25 teams participating in about 6 club tournaments a year.
